Practical training guides

Clearer ways to prepare, review and update training.

Short operational notes for teams using their own guidance to build useful learning and manager review.

Course design

Turn a policy into a practical learning scenario.

A useful course starts with a real decision, not a summary of a document. Identify the moment where someone must choose a next step, the information they need and the condition that requires an escalation.

  1. Record the source material and the person accountable for it.
  2. Write a short situation using the facts a person will actually encounter.
  3. Ask the learner to explain the decision, not only select an answer.
  4. Define what a manager should look for in the response.

Manager review

Give managers a review record they can use.

Completion does not show whether a person could apply the guidance. A review record becomes more useful when it keeps the learner’s explanation, manager feedback and the next action in the same place.

Keep the feedback specific to the decision. If a course needs changing, connect that change to the source and course version rather than starting a disconnected new record.

Course maintenance

Keep a course current when the source changes.

Training needs a visible connection to the source behind it. Record the guidance owner, intended use and revision context so the team can see which course, scenario and learner assignment could be affected by a change.

That creates a focused update path: review the source, update the course where needed and record the change for the people responsible for learning and operations.
